Komal M. Joshi, MD
Dr. Joshi specializes in diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusions, inflammatory diseases of the retina and hereditary retinal degenerations. She performs diagnostic testing and provides medical and laser treatments for retinal diseases. She has a special interest in clinical trials and ocular imaging. She is also part of the academic faculty at th University of Illinois at Chicago / Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Joshi is a native Chicagoan and completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and medical school at Medical College of Wisconsin. She went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at State University of New York Stony Brook where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. She then came back to Chicago for a Medical Retina Fellowship at Northwestern University.
Dr. Joshi has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed publications and presented at national meetings. She has also volunteered in numerous international medical and surgical camps. She holds memberships in several professional societies including American Society of Retina Specialists, Women in Retina, and American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Joshi is fluent in English, Spanish, Gujarati and Hindi. When she isn’t seeing patients she enjoys biking, yoga, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
